Slow Cooker Root Beer BBQ Sliders are the perfect dinner for summer! Flavorful slow cooked chicken piled on soft slider buns with a scoop of coleslaw, yum!
Hey guys!! So the weather is warming up and summer is on its way. I love to make sure the summer is full of fun traditions, new experiences, and great memories.
Keeping two boys entertained all summer can be tricky, but sometimes the best memories come from simple experiences.
Before we had kids my husband and I would spend Friday nights relaxing in bed with a movie and a sweet treat of root beer floats. We both grew up making root beer floats with our families and we continued our love for them together. His parents always used A&W Root Beer and it was my family staple too! We always make sure to have plenty on hand when his mom and grandma come to visit because they both enjoy a nightly root beer float!
We always spend so much time at my grandparent’s pool in the summer and they always make sure to have a cooler full of all of our favorites including lots of refreshing A&W Root Beer!
Now that we have the boys we still keep up our tradition of movies on Friday nights, though the thriller movies we watched have been replaced with singing cartoon animals lol. We still wanted to continue our tradition of root beer floats with our movies and introduce our kids to the deliciousness of root beer just like our families had.
So now our boys get super excited for floats and movies in mommy and daddy’s bed on the weekend.
Sometimes, if we want to do something a little fun that doesn’t require leaving the house when it’s 100 degrees, we spread out a picnic blanket on the bed and we have dinner with our movie in bed. The boys love it! It’s something different and fun and I know will create memories that will stick with them.
I decided since we all love our root beer float movie treat that I could incorporate that root beer flavor into our dinner with these Slow Cooker Root Beer BBQ Chicken Sliders.
Everything gets thrown into the slow cooker and you have a delicious dinner in no time with no need to turn on the oven, perfect for those hot summer nights!
Now the secret to this recipe and perfect root beer floats is using only the best root beer, A&W® Root Beer.
This is the only root beer my family uses because it is delicious! Flavorful, delicious and perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or used in recipes like these Slow Cooker Root Beer BBQ Sliders.
These sliders are so easy to make, the cook right in the slow cooker so you don’t have to turn the oven on and heat up your kitchen on those hot days.
You can use any BBQ sauce you like because the star is the A&W Root Beer!
We love to pile it on soft slider buns with a scoop of coleslaw but you can make these full size too. This is also the perfect recipe for a party!
A&W is celebrating its 100th anniversary! It has been around that long because it is incredible and a classic favorite!
I always pick up plenty of A&W Root Beer when I do my weekly shopping at Walmart.
I do my shopping with Walmart Grocery Pick Up which is a lifesaver in the summer when I have both boys to wrangle. I love shopping at Walmart because they always have what I need (and more) for the best prices and I just cannot get enough of the Grocery Pick Up, makes a mama’s life so much easier!
