I absolutely love banana bread and it is something we have a lot because I buy a lot of bananas because my kids devour them and then the next week they want nothing to do with them so I end up with some over-ripe bananas which means banana bread.  That’s fine with us because let’s be honest banana bread is so delicious!

I think one of the best things about banana bread is how moist it is.  I recently found out that you can make banana bread right in the slow cooker and I knew that that would result in some seriously moist and delicious banana bread so I had to try it out.

I love that I can just throw everything in the slow cooker and set it and forget it and then my house just fills with the scent of fresh banana bread baking. Better than any candle could ever smell.

This banana bread is easy to whip up and just cooks right in the slow cooker so it is so easy.

I love that you can customize this to your family’s taste, you switch up the nuts, omit the nuts completely or even add chocolate chips.

This is a great way to not waste those bananas going bad on your counter, you can make this fabulous banana nut bread.

My kids love this bread and they eat it for breakfast, snack, dessert.  I love it with a little smear of butter, it is fabulous!

I promise your whole family will love these Slow Cooker Banana Bread.

You will want to make this bread again and again! We do!

You will love this recipe because it is

  • Easy and fast.
  • Family friendly.
  • Budget friendly.
  • Full of flavor.
  • A set it and forget it bread.
  • Perfect for leftover bananas.

My favorite slow cooker for this recipe is this Hamilton Beach one.

Can I use any bananas that aren’t over ripe yet?

Yes, you can use bananas that aren’t over ripe yet, you just need to mash them a little more than the softer ones.  I just would not use bananas that aren’t ripe at all, that wouldn’t be as soft and wouldn’t have time to have developed their sugars as much.

What else can I add to this bread?

I added walnuts to this bread but you can add almonds or pecans.  It is also delicious with chocolate chips, or butterscotch chips.

Can I freeze this?
Banana bread does freeze beautifully.  Just wrap it up in plastic wrap and store in a freezer bag and I would freeze it for up to 3 months.

Ingredients used

  • Butter – I like to use salted butter in this recipe so I don’t have to add any salt.

  • Brown Sugar – This helps sweeten the bread and adds flavor.
  • Eggs – You got to have eggs in any bread recipe.
  • Vanilla Extract – You can use extract or paste.
  • Ripe Bananas – The riper the better.
  • Flour – All-purpose flour is all you need for this bread.
