These Fudgy Cookies are perfect for the holidays.

Fudge Topped Sugar Cookies are perfect for the holidays and have a perfect fudgy topping on top of thick sugar cookies. Delicious!

Hey guys!! It’s the holiday season and that means it is baking season.  The holiday season is also cookie season, you always have to make one batch of Christmas cookies every year and these are perfect.

I love, love, love the holidays and of course I love holiday baking!  Every Christmas Eve I make a huge tray of freshly baked goodies for everyone one to enjoy and of course to leave out for Santa and these cookies are always a favorite of everyone and they are so easy to make.

My favorite part about making this tray is I change it up every year.  It is the perfect thing to really get creative, try those new recipes you pinned on Pinterest and test out that cookie recipe you have been dying to try.

The best part is that I always make a bunch of these goodies so that I can package them up and give them to friends and family that stop by during the holiday season.

So onto these amazing Fudge Topped Cookies.  Thick classic sugar cookies are topped with a mound of thick fudge icing and sprinkled with those festive candy making them the perfect holiday treat.  These are to die for!! Thankfully I packaged up some for my neighbors before I ate too many lol.  Santa will definitely give you extra presents if you leave him these on Christmas Eve.

These are always a hit at any cookie exchange and always fly off the dessert table.  They are also perfect for gift-giving.

So this year wow your guests and Santa with a batch of these Fudge Topped Sugar Cookies.

Can I use any candy for the top?

Sure! You can even use sprinkles if you like.

Can I make these ahead of time?

You can make the dough and put it in the fridge the night before to save some time.  They also stay fresh for a bit in an airtight container but they never last long around here anyways.

Ingredients

  • Sugar cookie mix –  You can make the cookies from scratch or use a mix, whatever makes your life easier!
  • Chocolate chips – I like to use semisweet but you can also use milk chocolate chips.
  • Sweetened Condensed milk – We are essentially making fudge so sweetened condensed milk is a must.
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder –  To make the fudge extra chocolatey.
  • Powdered sugar –  This gives the fudge more of a frosting texture.
  • Vanilla extract – For flavor of course.
  • Red & Green M&M’S – For topping but you can use any holiday candies or sprinkles.
