I love making sweet treats for the holidays, especially Christmas.  I really like making easy, festive treats because time is limited during the holidays so I am always on the look out for easy, quick treats.  I love to make sweet treats for my Christmas dessert platter, and these gumdrops are always a hit.  No one will believe you made them! They look like they came right from the candy store!

My mom, grandma and I always love the spiced gumdrops that come out during the holidays, they are some of our favorite holiday candies and they look so festive!

These little sweet bites are full of flavor thanks to cinnamon, peppermint and spearmint extract.

Kids will love helping to make these.  They can help roll them in the sugar, that’s the fun part!

You can make these all year round if you prefer, you can change the color of these gumdrops and of course the flavor.  For Christmas I like to do red and green and white but come Spring I will be making these in pink, yellow and blues.

This is an impressive candy that comes together in no time, you just mix the ingredients, let them sit overnight and voila perfect holiday treat.  No one can resist popping these flavorful treats in their mouth every time they pass by.

These are also perfect for the holidays because you can easily make them ahead of time.  Anything I can make ahead for the holidays is a win in my book!

These also make a fabulous gift this time of year.  Everyone will love getting a holiday tin full of these chewy, spicy treats.

I promise you will love making these Spiced Gumdrops this holiday season!

Can I use other flavors of the extract?

Of course!  These are spiced gumdrops so I do stick with cinnamon and mint flavors but you can use whichever extract flavor you like.

Can I use cookie cutters for these?

Of course! You can use tiny little cookie cutters or even silicon molds.

How long do these stay fresh?

This candy stays fresh in an airtight container for up to two weeks.

Do I have to roll these in sugar?

Yes, you do have to roll these in sugar to help them not stick to everything including each other.  Also you do need to use granulated sugar to roll them in, powdered sugar will not work.

Ingredients

  • Unflavored gelatin- This is what gives these candy their chewy texture.
  • Sugar-  This is candy so you will need some granulated sugar.
  • Peppermint extract- I get this right on the baking aisle at my grocery store.
  • Mint extract-  You can also get this right at the grocery store.
  • Cinnamon oil-  I was unable to find cinnamon extract but I did find cinnamon oil.  Just please make sure you are using a cinnamon oil made for baking.
  • Red and green food coloring- I prefer to use the gel food colors as they are more vibrant.
