I love making sweet treats for the holidays, especially Christmas.  I really like making easy, festive treats because time is limited during the holidays so I am always on the look out for easy, quick treats.  I love to make sweet treats for my Christmas dessert platter, and these gumdrops are always a hit.  No one will believe you made them! They look like they came right from the candy store!

These little sweet bites are full of flavor thanks to the jello mixes these candy use.  You can use any flavor you like to create these.  I used cherry and lime jello.

Kids will love helping to make these.  They can roll them in the sugar or use the tiny cookie cutters to cut them out.

You can make these all year round if you prefer, you can change the color of these gumdrops and of course the flavor.  For Christmas I like to do red and green but come Spring I will be making these in pink, yellow and blues.

This is an impressive candy that comes together in no time, you just mix the ingredients, let them sit overnight and voila perfect holiday treat.  No one can resist popping these flavorful treats in their mouth every time they pass by.

These are also perfect for the holidays because you can easily make them ahead of time.  Anything I can make ahead for the holidays is a win in my book!

These also make a fabulous gift this time of year.  Everyone will love getting a holiday tin full of these chewy treats.

I promise you will love making these Christmas Gumdrops this holiday season!

Can I use other flavors of jello?

Of course!  Now for Christmas I do stick with red and green but there are different flavors of red like strawberry, cherry, raspberry, cranberry and for the green there is lime, green apple and even watermelon.

Do I have to use cookie cutters for these?

While I do love the look of the stocking and Christmas trees you can just use a knife and cut these into squares.  They will still taste delicious!

How long do these stay fresh?

This candy stays fresh in an airtight container for up to two weeks.

Do I have to roll these in sugar?

Yes, you do have to roll these in sugar to help them not stick to everything including each other.  Also you do need to use granulated sugar to roll them in, powdered sugar will not work.

Ingredients

  • Sugar – You will use this in the gumdrops themselves and to coat them in.
  • Applesauce –  This adds flavor and stability to the gumdrops.
  • Strawberry or cherry jello – This is the base of the gumdrops and adds all the flavor.
  • Lime jello – This is the base of the gumdrops and adds all the flavor.
  • Unflavored gelatin – This helps the gumdrops firm up.
