Cheesy Italian Pigs in a blanket with mozzarella wrapped in flaky dough are perfect for dipping in marinara and make a quick weeknight dinner!

Cheesy Italian Pigs in a Blanket are a quick and easy dinner that can be made in minutes on those busy nights and are a real crowd pleaser the whole family will love!

My family loves pigs in a blanket and could eat them every night!  I decided to mix it up a little with this Italian version that they ask for all the time now!

I am always on the look out for quick dinners that everyone will love, don’t take a lot of ingredients and clean up is easy.  These Cheesy Italian Pigs in a Blanket checks all of those off my list!

My favorite part about this recipe?  There is just 4 ingredients (not including seasoning) in this delicious dinner which is what makes it such a time saver!

All you need is crescent rolls, Italian sausage links, mozzarella cheese and marinara!!

You can use your favorite precooked Italian sausage in this recipe.  There are so many different varieties to choose from, our favorite is the cheesy ones.  You can never have too much cheese!

This recipe also calls for mozzarella cheese.  Now you can get a block of fresh or you cheat like me and just cut a few of your kid’s string cheeses in half.  Nothing gets a better cheese pull than good old string cheese!!

These are so easy to make and are a nice change from traditional pigs in a blanket.  With a side salad or little pasta these make a fabulous quick dinner.

You can double this recipe easy and feed a crowd, they are great for parties!

CAN YOU USE UNCOOKED SAUSAGE?

What if your favorite sausage doesn’t come precooked? You’re good, don’t stress, just cook it up before preparing your pigs in a blanket.

CAN YOU USE SHREDDED CHEESE?

You can certainly use shredded mozzarella for this but the finished product won’t be as cheesy as it would be if you used string cheese or slices from a mozzarella block.

I CAN’T FIND JUMBO CRESCENTS

I use Grands Jumbo Crescents to make sure everything stays in there but if all you can find is regular crescents it’s cool, just cut the sausages in half for each crescent to make sure everything fits.

CAN I FREEZE THESE?

This is y’alls favorite question to ask so I figured I would get a head start and answer it for you here.  No you cannot freeze these.  Thankfully they are so easy to make you can always just make them fresh and IF you have any leftover they reheat beautifully!

I like to top mine with a little garlic salt, butter and parmesan cheese but you can top yours with any of these ideas.

Ingredients

  • Jumbo Crescent Rolls – I like to use the jumbo ones but you can use regular ones if that is all you can find.
  • String Cheese – You can use string cheese or a block of fresh mozzerella.
  • Italian Sausages –  I like to use the Johnsonville precooked ones.
  • Marinara Sauce –  Use your favorite jarred sauce.
  • Butter –  Just a little is all you need to brush the crescent rolls.
  • Parmesan Cheese – For the top of the crescents.
  • Italian Seasoning –  I use this to season the tops of the crescent rolls.
  • Garlic Salt – This gives the crescent rolls a little garlic bread vibe.
