Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper Steak Bites
These Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper Steak Bites are tender, flavorful, and cooked low and slow in a sweet-savory sauce that’s perfect spooned over mashed potatoes.

This is one of those recipes that doesn’t sound fancy, but somehow ends up being one of the most requested dinners in my house. Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper Steak Bites have been in our rotation for years, and every single time I make them, I’m reminded why they’re such a hit.
It’s the kind of meal that feels comforting without being heavy, and easy without being boring. The steak turns incredibly tender, the sauce is rich and flavorful, and it’s one of those dinners where everyone ends up dragging a piece of bread through the extra sauce on their plate. If I don’t make enough, it’s gone fast, especially once it hits a bowl of mashed potatoes.
What I really love about this recipe is how little effort it takes. A quick sear on the steak, a simple sauce stirred together, and then the slow cooker takes over. It’s perfect for busy days when you know you’ll want something hearty waiting for you at dinner time, but you don’t want to think about it all day.
The Dr. Pepper might sound a little strange if you’ve never cooked with soda before, but it works so well here. It adds just a touch of sweetness and helps tenderize the beef as it cooks, while the BBQ sauce and Worcestershire bring in that savory depth. Nothing about it tastes overly sweet, it’s just balanced, rich, and really comforting.
This is also one of those meals that works for a lot of situations. It’s great for weeknights, but it’s also something I’ll make when we have family over or when I need a dependable slow cooker recipe that I know everyone will eat. If you’re looking for a crowd-pleasing dinner that doesn’t require a lot of prep, this one checks all the boxes.

Transfer the steak bites to the slow cooker.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the Dr. Pepper, honey, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper.
Pour the sauce evenly over the steak bites.
Cover and cook on LOW for 4–6 hours, until the steak is fork-tender.
If the sauce is thinner than you’d like, whisk together the cornstarch and water. Stir it into the slow cooker during the last 15 minutes of cooking and let it thicken.
Serve warm over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
