I top this with patriotic sprinkles but you could certainly top it with fresh fruit like blueberries and fresh strawberries.

Poke cakes are exactly as they sound, a cake usually baked in a 9×13 baking dish that is then poked full of holes and then filled with a creamy pudding base or sometimes a jello base, this one has a cheesecake pudding filling. Ingredients used for this 4th of July Cake
- Box of white cake mix- Any brand boxed cake mix will do, you can also use yellow cake mix if you prefer.
- The ingredients the cake mix calls for (water, vegetable oil, eggs)
- Red and blue food coloring- I like to use gel food coloring for this so I get really vibrant colors.
- Cheesecake flavored instant pudding- I love the flavor of the cheesecake pudding but you could also use white chocolate instant pudding. I would not use vanilla pudding as it has a more yellow color.
- Milk- To make the instant pudding with, use your favorite milk.
- Whipped topping- I just use a tub of cool whip but you can make your own whipped cream if you prefer.
- Red, white, blue sprinkles- For the top of the cake. Around this time of year you can find red white and blue sprinkles in the grocery store. You can also buy them from Amazon like the ones I used here RED WHITE AND BLUE SPRINKLES.
