These Ritz Cracker Sandwiches are the best appetizers/snack you could ever make!  I promise you will be hooked!

Ritz Ham Sandwiches are to die for! They are a cracker version of everyone’s favorite ham sliders. Ham and swiss baked in flavorful crackers!

I love to make the traditional ham sliders or ham party sandwiches for all our get-togethers.  They are a simple classic that is always the first dish to disappear.  Everyone always goes crazy for them.

These Ritz Cracker Sandwiches are a great twist on those sandwiches.  Ham and swiss stay the same but are tucked between two Ritz crackers and then topped with a worcestershire, mustard, butter, onion powder, poppy seed mixture before getting baked in the oven.  These are seriously the best appetizer I have ever had!

You can easily make a couple pans of these and pop them in the oven right before your guests come and they come out warm, crispy and so flavorful from that butter mixture.

These also make a great lunch or quick snack.  Taking only minutes to prep and a few minutes in the oven these are certainly a time-saving delicious recipe.

While I love the traditional sliders on the soft buns I have been so addicted to these lately!  The buttery crunch from the crackers really makes these over-the-top delicious.  The flavorful butter mixture gets baked into the crackers making them even more buttery and delicious and the cheese gets all melty, I could go for a handful of these right now!

These also make a ton and crackers are a little less expensive than Hawaiian rolls making this appetizer budget-friendly.

So the next time you have to whip up a quick appetizer and you want something that will knock everyone’s socks off just make a big old pan of these Ritz Cracker Sandwiches and you will have everyone asking for the recipe!

Can I use other crackers?

Yup!  While I prefer the Ritz crackers you can use saltines or club crackers.  Generic or brand name will both work just as well in this recipe.  All the flavor is going to be coming from that savory butter mix.

What is the best ham and cheese to use?

Thinly sliced ham lunch meat and thin sliced swiss work best for this recipe.  You can either get these from the deli and asked for them to be sliced thin or you can just purchase them in the lunchmeat section of your favorite store.  I just look for the package to say thinly sliced.  You can also use either honey ham, black forest ham or whatever flavor ham you prefer.

Can I add anything else to the butter topping?

Of course!! You can add a little garlic powder or red pepper flake if you like.  Even a little cajun seasoning would be wonderful in these.  Just adjust the seasonings to your liking.

How long do these stay fresh?

These actually are best right out of the oven.  They are also fabulous room temperature but because they are a cracker with meat and cheese inside I don’t imagine they would reheat that well.  Now I have not tried it myself but if you don’t mind eating these cold I imagine storing them in an airtight container in the fridge for a day or two might work.

INGREDIENTS

  • Ritz Crackers- You can of course use any cracker your family prefers but there is just something about a buttery ritz that makes these really delicious!
  • Deli ham- I like to use a thin sliced ham, any flavor for this.
  • Swiss cheese-  You can certainly switch up the flavor cheese, use any kind of cheese your family likes.
  • Butter-  Salted or unsalted will work in this recipe.
  • Dijon mustard-  This adds a lot of flavor to these little cracker sandwiches but you can use any mustard you have on hand.
  • Worcestershire sauce-  Gives these crackers a nice savory taste.
  • Poppy seeds-  Now these are just for color, they make a really nice presentation but you can skip these.
  • Onion powder-  A little bit of onion powder gives this a really nice flavor.
