Hey guys!!! The weather is warming up and every evening you can step outside and smell people firing up their grills everywhere. We love grilling and having family BBQs as soon as the temps start rising.
The first nice grill out we have every year is for Memorial Day. To me that is the start of summer, the start of hot dogs and burgers cooked outside, lightning bugs in the yard, sunshine kissed faces, and all the other great things that come with summer.
Of course, Memorial Day is also a time to honor and remember our fallen heroes who gave their lives while serving.
My husband comes from a long line of Navy men so we make sure to always respectfully honor Memorial Day. You can also show your gratitude for military families by safely dropping over a meal or sending care packages. I love buying Conagra products, even more, this Memorial Day because they are making a donation to Operation Homefront to support military families; which we love!
I love using all of Conagra’s products to make our Memorial Day super easy and delicious! I get everything I need for our meal right from Walmart, from the food to the napkins and plates, anything you need, they have it. Not only do they have it but I can get it delivered right to my door which is a lifesaver with two busy boys. I just add everything to my cart in my app and checkout and my groceries get delivered, such a time saver!
This Memorial Day my boys and I are having a little family meal full of yummy summer foods.
First I love charcuterie boards and this Hot Dog Charcuterie Board is perfect for any summer bbq or celebration.
I start with the best hot dogs, Hebrew National® Beef Hot Dogs. They are my go-to all summer long.
They are made with premium cuts of 100% kosher beef with a special blend of spices which makes for the most delicious, juicy beef hot dogs that have everybody lined up at the grill for one. We have them all year round though, on the grill, on the stove, and even in the microwave! We also really like that they are made with no artificial flavors, artificial colors, fillers, or by-products.
I pop them into some soft brioche buns and set them on my board alongside some toppings like chili, relish, onion, mustard, and everyone’s favorite ketchup- Hunt’s®!
I only buy Hunt’s® Tomato Ketchup. You can taste the difference between Hunt’s and other brands, Hunt’s uses vine-ripened tomatoes, choice seasonings, and spices making it perfect for dipping and topping all your favorites.
Any summer celebrations have to have pasta salad and this Pickle Pasta Salad is so good! I love it, such a great addition to pasta salad. I make my usual pasta salad which uses Wish-Bone® Italian Dressing, the only kind I use. It adds so much flavor it’s all you need to add so much flavor to your pasta salad or any of your favorite recipes. It also does double duty and we use it as an amazing marinade for chicken on the grill.
The secret ingredient to this pasta salad is the pickles!! I only use the best for this and that’s Vlasic® Kosher Dill Pickle Spears. They are so crisp and crunchy and perfect alongside your hot dog, on top of your burger but today we are putting it in our pasta salad! The crunchy tang of these delicious pickles really put this pasta salad over the top.
Now no summer bbq is complete without a fabulous dessert. And no fabulous dessert is complete without Reddi-wip® Original Whipped Topping. I keep this on hand at all times but especially in the summer. We use it for topping ice cream, pies, and of course big bowls of summer berries. I love that the Reddi-wip® is made with real cream as the first ingredient with no artificial flavors or sweeteners. I just topped these cute little red, white, and blue cheesecakes with Reddi-wip and star-spangled sprinkles and dessert was ready!
So this Memorial Day get your grills ready, get your shopping done at Walmart and make this amazing Hot Dog Charcuterie Board, this delicious Pickle Pasta Salad, and put it all together with a festive dessert.
Don’t forget the real meaning behind Memorial Day and honor those heroes.
