Hey y’all!! It is almost Halloween!!! I love Halloween so much, not for the costumes, not for the candy, not for the spooky decorations, but for the Trick or Treating. There is just something so magical about walking around my grandparent’s neighborhood on that crisp evening, feeling the first chilly breezes of fall roll in, listening to the crunch of fallen leaves under the feet of witches and goblins, hearing the shouts of, “Trick or Treat!” echo through the streets, seeing the flushed faces of kids dressed as dogs and princesses rush by with their bags of candy banging on their legs behind them. We then head into my grandma’s house where all the kids dump their candy bags out and the adults sit and sort through the candy while a big pot of vegetable soup simmers on the stove.
It is one of my favorite nights and a favorite memory of mine that I love passing down to my kids.
Now even though it is a magical night there have been a few hangry meltdowns in the past. The long walk often after a longer day at school and the enticement of the all the candy can cause our little ones to have the occasional melt down.
So, of course, we wised up and started giving out snacks before trick or treating. That is how I came up with my Trick or Treat Munch. It is just a snack mix that I change up every year and package up in cute little Halloween themed bags and give to the kids to keep them fueled up for a great night of Trick or Treating.
This mix can contain anything your kids like, but this year I wanted to add Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks and knew they would be the perfect fun addition to our munch.
Now we are no strangers to the amazing Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks which are a frequent addition to Dean’s lunch box.
We love them because they have 100% daily value of Vitamin C and 25% daily value of Vitamins A & D and are made with real fruit surrounded by creamy yogurt to create a delicious taste my whole family loves. They have become a favorite of mine when I am binging on junk TV. I also love that they are a mess-free snack for my son.
So this year for my Trick or Treat Munch I combined pretzels, a berry cereal, bone shaped graham crackers (to add a little spooky to the mix) and, of course, those delicious little Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks which adds just the perfect little burst of strawberry flavor to the mix.
You can mix yours up by adding your kid’s favorite snacks like popcorn, nuts, crackers, anything they like, but make sure you add plenty of Welch’s Fruit ‘n Yogurt Snacks because they really make this snack mix and the kids will love them!
I fill up these adorable little Halloween bags and the kids are ready to go with a snack to keep them fueled through all the door to door trick or treats and all the candy sorting.
