It is summer around here and it is hot, hot, hot and this mama barely feels like cooking. To make the heat a little bearable I love to load up the family and head to Sam’s Club where I can grab lots of things to make meal time a snap (and we get slushies from the snack bar, double win!)
While at Sam’s this week I grabbed a few staples that help us get through the summer months, Tyson® Fully-Cooked Chicken Nuggets, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinners and Capri-Suns, all the things I need to whip up a super fast dinner on those busy hot nights when my house is full of hungry kids. I love that it takes no time to create a yummy dinner everyone will love and we can be sitting down enjoying dinner together in a flash. I love to bake up Tyson’s nuggets, they come out perfectly crispy and everyone loves dunking them in our Cranberry Honey Mustard which is yummy all year round. I just top dinner off with some classic Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and wash it down with a Capri-Sun and everyone is happy. The Cranberry Honey Mustard is a great dipping sauce and comes together in minutes.
Sitting down and enjoying a meal with your family is such a great way to end the day and I love knowing my kids are going to bed with a full tummy. However, it gets me thinking about how hard the summer is for a lot of children. For a lot of kids the meals they get at school are all they get to eat for the day and now that school is out for the summer it is more important than ever to donate to your local food banks to help.
Tyson, Kraft and Sam’s club have launched their Hunger Heroes campaign, where you can head into Sam’s and during the month of August purchase either Tyson® Fully-Cooked Chicken Nuggets 5 lb. bag, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner 7.25 oz. 12-pack, or a Capri-Sun 6 oz. 40-pack and Tyson and Kraft and you will be helping a child in need for each one purchased. It is just that easy to help children in need. You can buy some things you need and help someone else out in the process.
At dinner we discussed what other ways we can help and be Hunger Heroes and we decided to donate to our local food bank. I cannot stress enough how important it is to help these children, it breaks my heart to think of any child being hungry and that is why I want to share with you how easy it is for you to make a difference. Did you know you can even donate online? It could not be any easier for anyone to help.
We bought extra chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and Capri Suns at Sam’s so even more nourishment would be donated and my Hunger Helpers suggested we take some over to our neighbors who have been having a very rough few months and with little ones of their own I knew a meal they didn’t have to cook would be welcome. So we packed up some containers, including our yummy cranberry honey mustard and took it to our neighbors, who were thankful for a night off.
So head to Sam’s pick up a few of these items, sit down to dinner with your family and discuss how else you can be #HungerHeroes which is all about turning families into superheroes, and how you can use your power of giving. You can find more information all about Sam’s Club Hunger Heroes HERE!
