Summer Celebration Buckets
Super fun inexpensive buckets full of goodies for the summer! Perfect for the last day of school or the first day of summer!
Hey guys!! It is almost summer!! It is already summer break for many kids. Dean’s last day is tomorrow! We made it mamas!!
I was browsing YouTube the other day and I love to watch Emily’s Ideas and she made her kids these killer baskets for the last day of school. I was inspired but wanted to make them on a smaller scale.
If I’ve learned anything from watching Emily’s videos it’s that you can plan ahead and start stocking up which was my plan but I ended up just hitting up the Target Dollar Spot twice in two weeks lol.
So the first thing you need is buckets which I had a hard time finding!! Seriously, how hard can it be to find sand pails during summer. I checked Target and they had none except for 2 prefilled ones that were $10 a each, no thanks!
Then I checked Walmart because surely they would have them, they have everything! Again no buckets at all.
So I sent my husband to The Dollar Tree and it was like sand bucket heaven there. He grabbed the two I was thrilled. If you cannot find the buckets anywhere check your Dollar Store. They also have a variety of cute summer things to put in these buckets, but I already had gotten enough :/
As a last minute addition I decided to put the boys monograms on them using my Silhouette. I bought the monogram with the flip flops from the Silhouette Store and just made them in contrasting colors to the buckets and popped them on. I have no idea how well they will last if these buckets get some good beach use but they look adorable regardless lol.
Watch the video on how I made these here
Now for the fillings! Everything even the candy came from Target except for the water guns which I got at Walmart for I believe like 97 cents.
All these goodies were right in the dollar spot with the most expensive item costing just $3.
I got bubble wands of course ($1), sunglasses ($1), pinwheels ($1), flashlights that make super cute shapes on the wall ($3), little alligator and octopus that shoot out foam darts ($3), these little bugs that you flick ($1), the water guns (97 cent), these little buckets of sand that have plastic bugs in them to play with (my boys love this kind of thing) ($3) and some splash balls which came in a 2 pack for $1 so I split it between my boys.
I also got a little bit of candy because why not lol. I got the Summer Splash Starburst because they are summery lol, Ring Pops because those are always a hit, and Tropical Swedish Fish.
After all was said and done each bucket less than $20.
Again most everything came from the Target Dollar Spot, they have a ton of great summer toys and items but a lot of things I got came from “camping/adventure” section in the Dollar Spot, the flashlight, the flick n stick bug and I believe the bugs in sand came from that section as well. The rest came from the Summer Section of the dollar spot.
All the candy I also got right at Target.
I just put everything in the buckets and I will have them sitting out on the dining room table when Dean comes in from school his last day.
Now Sam is not in school but he will get a bucket too lol.
These buckets can be to celebrate the last day of school, first day of summer break or the first day of summer which is June 21st this year.
I had a great time making these buckets and think I have found a new family tradition!
So head grab a bucket and fill it with all sorts of summer goodies to give your kids on the last day of school or first day of summer and hopefully the buckets will get you a couple minutes of peace this summer break lol.
