These Italian pinwheel sandwiches are perfect for parties and get-togethers.

These hoagie pinwheels are perfect all year round.  These pinwheels have all the flavors of an italian sub sandwich but nice and melty and golden pinwheel appetizers. You mix your cheese and Italian meats with sweet and hot peppers and then spread it on the crescent roll dough.  You roll it up and slice it then brush them with butter and Italian seasoning.  These bake until they are golden, cheesy and melty.  The flavor combination is just out of this world and are crowd pleasing.  These are so easy to customize to your family’s taste.  You can switch up the deli meats, switch up the cheese, add bacon or jalapenos.  You can truly make these your own.

I found people love pinwheels recipes, it seems to be what they pick up the most at a party.  Who doesn’t love finger foods? And these are perfect and delicious!

Now I love making up a big batch of these little Italian roll-ups for parties because they are the first thing to go but these also make a great meal.  These are a perfect light lunch and a fabulous dinner with a salad on the side.  These also reheat great so don’t be afraid to double or triple the recipe!  These are also delicious right out of the oven or at room temperature.

What should I serve this with?

While these make a great appetizer they can also be a meal. I love these with a salad, fries or some mac and cheese but it is also great served with these Slow Cooker Cowboy Beans.

Can I make this spicy?

You can add red pepper flakes, jalapenos, pepperoncini peppers, roasted red peppers or pepperjack cheese to give this a kick.

List Of Ingredients Used

  • Crescent roll dough –  I prefer to use the crescent roll dough sheets because you don’t have to pinch the seams together but use what you like.  Now I do love how flaky and light crescent roll dough is for this recipe but it will 100% work with pizza dough as well if you have that on hand.
  • Garden vegetable cream cheese spread –  You can also swap this out for garlic and herb or chive cream cheese.
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese – Use your favorite cheese, provolone cheese or pepperjack would be fabulous in this.
  • Banana peppers or sweet and spicy salad peppers –  I love to use the sweet and spicy salad peppers but you can use banana peppers, roasted red peppers, pepperoncini peppers or even jalapenos. Even sun-dried tomatoes would be delicious in this recipe.
  • Slices of deli ham –  Any flavor or kind you like will work great in this recipe.
  • Pepperoni slices – I like to use the pepperoni from the deli section because it a bit thinner.
  • Slices of salami – I also like to use thinner deli salami here too.  Hard salami or any kind of salami you like will be great here.
  • Butter – Use salted or unsalted, you just need a bit to brush the tops with.
  • Italian seasoning –  To sprinkle over the top for a pop of flavor.   You can also sprinkle these with a bit of parmesan cheese before baking, it will add a little flavor and goldeness.
