No matter what season it is you always need a go to appetizer recipe and these mini sliders always fit the bill!  Every time I make these they are the first to disappear, I have learned to make two batches every time.

Any holiday, party or cookout I am in charge of bringing these little pretzel bites.

The tiny pretzel buns are filled with savory ham, melty cheddar cheese and topped with a delicious hot honey to give them the tiniest kick that leaves everyone wanting more!

I place these all in a baking dish and bake them till the cheese is gooey.  From there you can easily cover these and take them to wherever the party is!  You can also assemble these and bake them whenever you get to your gathering, these travel so well!

Now these do make the perfect appetizer but let me tell you I make these for a quick lunch all the time! They are the perfect size to grab a few for a quick lunch. You could even have these for dinner with a side salad or some macaroni and cheese. They are so versatile!  The pretzel bun really takes these to the next level.

I love this ham and cheese pretzel sliders recipe as it is but my goodness is it versatile!  You can switch these up a million ways.

  • Switch out the ham for turkey or chicken.
  • Add bacon.
  • Change out the cheese for swiss cheese, pepper jack cheese, colby jack cheese, any kind you like! I think Gouda would be amazing!
  • You can add veggies like peppers and onions.
  • Add more red pepper flake or even omit it completely if spice isn’t your thing.
  • You can also top these with a honey mustard spread if you don’t want the heat.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Recipe:

Can I use any lunch meat?

Yes, any lunch meat will work, I always prefer a sweet ham but use what you like!  You can use turkey, chicken, roast beef whichever you prefer. You can even use the seasoned lunch meats like black forest ham, smoked turkey or buffalo chicken.

Which cheese is best?

I like to use a sliced cheese, I feel like it melts better than a shredded cheese.  I love cheddar in this recipe but you can use swiss, gouda, cheddar, pepper jack, even american if that is what you have on hand.

Ingredients used for this easy ham and cheese sliders:

  • Mini pretzel bites- I used Kings Hawaiian Pretzel Bites but I believe there is another brand out there called maybe Pretzilla or something like that and they would work great too! I find these in a tub by the bakery usually.

  • Honey ham- I like to use honey ham to add to the sweetness of the honey in the glaze but you can use any flavor ham you like!  A smoked ham or black forest ham would be equally as delicious.

  • Sliced cheddar cheese-  This adds such a great flavor and gets so melty but feel free to use any sliced cheese you like.

  • Butter-  You want to use the butter as the base for your glaze, you can use unsalted butter or salted butter.

  • Honey-  Of course you need honey for these Hot Honey Ham Sliders.  It adds sweetness to the top of these sliders and works perfectly with the spice.

  • Red pepper flakes- This is where the hot in the hot honey comes in.  I love the little kick the red pepper flakes add and they add a pop of color on top but you can also use a little cayenne powder instead.
