These Big Mac Smash Tacos are so quick and easy.  These are so popular right now!  The burger cooks right on the tortilla and then get topped with big mac toppings and that special sauce.  Such a quick and tasty weeknight dinner.

I love an easy dinner that everyone enjoys, doesn’t take a lot of time or a lot of ingredients!  That is another one of my favorite things about this recipe, most of the ingredients I already have on hand!  My whole family loves this meal and so do I!

I love that in just a few minutes I can have a delicious, flavorful dinner that everyone loves.  These Smash tacos have been going viral so I knew I had to make them for myself and there is a good reason they are so popular.  

You spread the beef right on the tortillas and cook them in a pan and the beef cooks right onto the tortilla.  Then top it with a slice of American cheese, shredded lettuce, diced onion, pickles and that special sauce.  These are such a great spin on tacos and burgers!

I love that you can customize this to your family’s taste, you can any burger toppings you like, use a different kind of cheese, add your favorite spices, you can totally make this your own.

Can we also take a minute to talk about how budget-friendly this dinner is?  Everyone is feeling the pinch with the grocery bill right now and you can’t get much cheaper than ground beef and tortillas, so super budget-friendly.  This is a fabulous dinner when you are trying to save a few pennies.

Can I use any protein?

Yes, if you are using beef you will want to use a lean beef but you can also use ground turkey, pork or chicken.  Whichever ground meat your family prefers.

Can I make these on a different size tortilla?

Of course! But obviously, it will change the yield so adjust accordingly.

What toppings can I use on these Big Mac Smash Tacos?

Regular Big Mac toppings like onion, pickles, lettuce and sauce are perfect but feel free to add any of your favorite burger toppings like tomatoes, red onion, jalapenos or even bacon. 

 

Ingredients used

● Ground Beef-  Leaner beef works best with this recipe, I like 90/10 and would not go lower than that as the beef would shrink too much and make the tacos greasy. 
● Flour Tortillas- I use taco sized for this recipe. 
● American Cheese- You have to have that classic American cheese for these tacos.
● Iceberg Lettuce-  Shred this fine just like on a Big Mac. 
● Onion- Chopped white onion is what I used, but feel free to use whichever onion you have. 
● Thousand Island Dressing-  This is the secret special sauce for these tacos. 
● Pickle Slices- I use hamburger pickles or dill slices.

How to make these Big Mac Smash Tacos

 

  1. FULL RECIPE BELOW
  2. 1. Divide the meat into 8 equal portions.
  3. Spread each portion of meat on a tortilla into a thin layer.
  4. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  5. Heat a medium skillet over medium heat.
  6. Place on of the tortillas beef side down in the pan.
  7. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through and browned.
  8. Flip the tortilla over and let cook 30 seconds on that side.
  9. Remove from the pan and place a slice of cheese on the beef.
  10. Repeat with the other tortillas.
  11. Top each taco with pickle, lettuce, onion and drizzle with thedressing.
  12. Fold like tacos and serve!

  • ● 1 pound 90/10 ground beef
  • ● 8 (soft taco size) flour tortillas
  • ● 8 slices American cheese
  • ● 2 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • ● 1/2 cup diced onion
  • ● ½ cup thousand island dressing
  • ● Pickle slices
  • ● Salt and pepper

Instructions

    1. Divide the meat into 8 equal portions.
    2. Spread each portion of meat on a tortilla into a thin layer.
    3. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
    4. Heat a medium skillet over medium heat.

Notes

● These are best served fresh.
● I would store leftovers without the pickles, lettuce, onion and dressing.
● Add whatever seasoning to the meat you like.
● Add your favorite burger toppings.
● These work great with low carb tortillas.
