If there’s one thing I know about summer parties, it’s that people absolutely lose their minds over anything involving melted chocolate and marshmallows.

And honestly, I don’t blame them.

Every year I try to come up with one fun patriotic dessert to bring to our Fourth of July get-togethers. Sometimes it’s a cake, sometimes it’s cookies, and sometimes it’s something completely over the top. But the recipes that always get the most attention are usually the easiest ones.

This 4th of July S’Mores Dip is exactly that kind of recipe.

The first time I made it, I was looking for something festive that didn’t require me to spend all day in the kitchen. Summer is hot enough already, and the last thing I want to do is spend hours baking when everyone else is outside enjoying the weather.

This dip came together in minutes and looked so cute sitting on the dessert table.

The best part is that everyone immediately knows what it is.

You don’t have to explain it. You don’t have to convince anyone to try it. People see melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows and they’re already reaching for a graham cracker.

I also love that it feels a little nostalgic. S’mores always remind me of summer, and turning them into an easy shareable dip makes them perfect for parties.

The patriotic marshmallow flag on top takes just a few extra minutes but makes such a big impact. People always think it looks much harder than it actually is.

And unlike some themed desserts that are mostly about looks, this one actually tastes incredible too.

Warm chocolate, gooey marshmallows, crunchy graham crackers… honestly, it’s hard to go wrong.

Whether you’re hosting a backyard barbecue, heading to a neighborhood cookout, celebrating Memorial Day, or planning a Fourth of July party, this is one of those recipes that always gets compliments.

FAQs

Can I make this ahead of time?

You can assemble the dish ahead of time, but it’s best baked just before serving so the chocolate stays warm and gooey.

What if I can’t find square marshmallows?

Regular marshmallows work perfectly. Simply decorate them the same way and place them close together to form the flag.

Can I use chocolate chips instead of chocolate bars?

Absolutely. About 2 cups of chocolate chips work well in place of the chocolate bars.

How do I reheat leftovers?

Microwave individual portions for 15-20 seconds or warm the entire dish in a low oven until melted again.

Can I make this in a cast iron skillet?

Yes! A cast iron skillet actually makes a beautiful presentation and helps keep the dip warm longer.
