Ingredients used in this Turkey and Rice Soup

  • Leftover cooked turkey- this is a great way to use up that leftover thanksgiving turkey.
  • Carrots- I love the pop of color and sweetness carrots add to this great recipe.
  • Celery-  Celery adds a nice savory flavor.
  • Onion- Every soup needs onion you can use white onion or yellow onion, you can even use red onion if that is all you have on hand.
  • Low sodium chicken stock- I like to use a low-sodium chicken broth so the soup isn’t overly salty. Of course you can also use homemade turkey stock. You can also use boxed turkey broth.
  • Turkey gravy mix- Just a packet of dry turkey gravy mix is all you need, it helps flavor and thicken this easy turkey soup recipe.
  • Onion powder-  Adds a lot of flavor to this rich soup.
  • Garlic powder-  Adds a bit of garlic flavor to the soup.
  • Poultry seasoning-  Poultry seasoning adds a variety of seasonings and flavor to this soup.
  • Black pepper- Adds a little kick to the soup.
  • Long grain and wild rice a roni-  I discard the seasoning packet and just use the rice but you can add the seasoning packet if you prefer. You can also use a cup of white rice if you prefer.
  • Heavy cream- Adds richeness and creaminess to this delicious soup.
