Can I use a bone in turkey breast?

Yes, of course!  Now the cook time will vary a bit when using a bone in breast so just make sure to adjust accordingly for the weight of your turkey breast.  The seasoning and gravy will be just the same!

What should I serve this with?

Being turkey is usually served at Thanksgiving I of course love serving this with stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, all the classics.  This Loaded Cornbread Casserole also makes a great side dish with the turkey!

Can I add anything to slow cooker for more flavor?

Yes! You can add celery, onion, lemons, carrots, herbs, anything you would stuff inside a turkey for aromatics you can add to the slow cooker.

Ingredients used

  • Boneless turkey breast –  I love cooking boneless turkey breasts in my slow cooker but this recipe also works with a bone in breast, you will just need to adjust your cooking time.
  • Brown gravy mix – This is what helps thicken up and flavor the liquid in the slow cooker to create that rich gravy.
  • Ranch seasoning – I know it sounds crazy to use ranch seasoning on a holiday but it adds so much delicious flavor.
  • Paprika – I always like to use a little paprika on my turkeys just to give it a pretty color.
  • Poultry seasoning – Kinders Poultry Seasoning has been my go to but use your favorite!
  • Pepper – A little fresh cracked pepper adds great flavor.
  • Butter – This adds richness and gets that gravy shiny!

Notes

  • This recipe also works with a bone in breast but will require a little longer cook time.
  • You can leave the netting on your breast to help hold it together but it can be messy to remove after cooking and I have not had any trouble with the turkey falling apart without the netting.
  • You can pop the turkey under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp up the outside if desired.
  • I love making this during the week and making the most amazing turkey sandwiches out of it.
  • If you want you can add some carrots, onion and celery underneath the turkey for some aromatics.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
