Walmart Grocery Pickup Saves My Sanity!!

Sharing is caring!

Walmart Grocery Pickup is my new favorite thing!  Saves me so much time and sanity!  I could not live without it, seriously!

Hey mamas (and dads!)  I am going to talk to you a little bit about grocery shopping today.  It used to be my favorite thing to do, I would leisurely stroll the aisles, checking things off my perfectly organized list, examining all the new products while sipping on a coffee and I just loved it!!

Then I had Dean and while my trips were cut shorter because of nap time he was good and would sit in the cart eating snacks and waving to everyone who passed, perfect parenting win.

Then Dean got a little older and started school and I had Sam who is a different breed than Dean for sure!

Now let me paint you a little picture of what grocery shopping is like with these two boys now.

First I struggle to get them both out of the car, while getting the seat cover and Sam strapped in the cart at the same time making sure Dean is trying to bolt through the parking lot for the store.

Once inside I wipe my brow because I’ve already broken a sweat just getting the maniacs inside.  Dean immediately asks to go to the toy section, which is a 30 minute time suck while he pores over every Lego set we just saw the week before.

Sam can be occupied for a few minutes by watching Netflix on my phone but screams if I take away the phone to check my list (who has time to write one down on paper anymore)

By the time we actually get to the food section they have burned through all the snacks I packed, Dean is complaining that he is tired and is constantly trying to sit on the floor or hang on to the back of the cart (I am not in good enough shape to push the both of them and a week’s worth of groceries around).

Then there is Sam.  He looks like an angel, all blue eyes and a head full of curly hair.  He attracts quite a bit of attention, most people comment on his hair, or tell me what a pretty little girl he is.  Something you should know about Sam is he has taken stranger danger to heart, he will scream bloody murder if you get too close to the cart, or somedays if you look in his direction.

So I have one kid dragging himself across the floor behind me and the other wailing like his arm has been cut off because someone came down the same aisle as us.

At this point I’m ready to throw in the towel but we can’t order pizza for dinner again and I’m pretty sure Dean’s school will start to worry if I send him a lunch of leftover pizza and old Halloween candy again.

We press on and even though that checkout should be a gleaming finish line it is the worst part.  As we wait to check out Dean is asking for candy and those little bags of Legos they keep at the checkout now (not cool bro).  Sam always thinks the checkout line means it is time to get out of the cart.  I have to hold on to him while throwing the groceries on the conveyer belt (sorry squished bread).  I don’t even want to get into how bad Sam wants to touch the card reader EVERY time.

I get them in the van, load up the groceries, go home, unload and at this point I am so exhausted I can’t even cook, Chinese take out it is (hey it’s not pizza again so we’re good!)

You can imagine my delight when I discovered Walmart Grocery Pickup.  It is my new best friend, it is a lifesaver, it is everything a busy mom dreams of!

At first I thought it was too good to be true.  No way life is this easy, there had to be some catch!  I downloaded the app, got the kids in bed, put on my pajamas, got in bed, turned on the Netflix to something not animated and did my shopping.

It was amazing, it was life changing! I got everything I needed because I wasn’t flustered and forgetting things.  I even saved money because I didn’t have two little boys grabbing every snack off the shelf!  Still how could it be this easy?!

Skeptical I went to pick up my groceries the next day.  I pulled into a spot, let them know I was there and that was that.  They brought out my groceries and PUT THEM IN MY CAR!!!  They loaded them for me!?  This was the life!!  I was in and out of there so fast and I didn’t have to take the kids out or anything!  They were still my little angels, being good as gold in their car seats.
