Ingredients used

  • Pound of ground beef – I like to use a lean ground beef in this recipe.
  • Chopped onion – You can use fresh or frozen, I cheat and use frozen to save time!
  • Green bell pepper – Swap this out for your favorite color bell pepper if you don’t like green.
  • Red bell pepper – This adds color and a little sweetness to this dish.
  • Garlic – Just a little will do ya, you can use fresh minced or jarred, both work great.
  • Ketchup – This is the base of the sauce, it has touch of sweetness and tartness your mix needs.
  • Chili powder – Adds a pop of flavor.
  • Tomato paste – This adds richness.
  • Worcestershire sauce – Adds depth and savoriness to the dish.
  • Brown sugar – You always need a little sweet in your sloppy joe mix.
  • Texas toast – The star of the show! I get it right in the freezer section of the grocery store, grab your favorite brand.
  • Colby jack cheese –  I like to use colby but you can use your favorite cheese like cheddar cheese or pepperjack cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese
