Making it in the slow cooker frees up the oven. This is the perfect ham for those Spring holidays coming up. Full of sweet citrus flavor this ham is perfect for Easter.
There is nothing I love more during the holidays than a perfectly glazed ham! This Lemon Lime Glazed Ham is sure to impress all your guests with a perfectly sweet and sticky glaze made with citrus flavors making it great for spring or summer! The lemon and lime slices candy in the glaze and are gorgeous on top of the ham. From the pretty colors to the shiny glaze this ham will be the star of any holiday table.
This is also an easy ham to make, the slow cooker does most of the work for you. You just pour a simple glaze over it while it slow cooks and right before it is ready to serve you glaze it again which gives it that irresistible shiny, glazy look.
This Lemon Lime Ham is such a show stopper there will be no need to serve turkey or anything else. I love ham for a family get together or holiday but hams seem to be a thing of winter except for Easter. We always have ham at Easter and I wanted something refreshing and different than the spiced hams we have at Christmas. That is how this citrus glazed ham came to be.
Of course, how could I share this recipe without talking about how delicious it is! The flavors in this ham just invoke spring. Lemon lime soda, honey, brown sugar and lemon and limes come together to create an exceptionally flavored ham. Did I mention that your house will smell heavenly while this is cooking? You will want to make it just for the smell alone lol!
This ham is tender and always cooks perfectly. It is fabulous the day of cooking but of course the leftovers make amazing sandwiches and then don’t forget to save that ham bone to make the most incredible bean soup later on. I love using leftover ham to make these Ham and Swiss Croissants.
I can’t wait for Easter so I can make this ham and can’t wait for you to try it, I know it will soon become a tradition in your family too, it is just too delicious!
Can I make this in the oven?
Of course!! You just follow the steps but instead of putting it in the slow cooker just put it in a roasting pan or dish. Then just let it cook at 325 degrees for 12-15 minutes per pound. Then remove it and glaze it with the glaze before serving.
Can I use oranges instead?
Sure you can! You can substitute pineapple rings or orange slices and it will still be so delicious.
Can I use a boneless ham?
Yes, you can certainly use a boneless ham for this. Just be sure to follow the cooking times listed for the size boneless ham you purchase.
Can I make this ahead of time?
You can make this ahead of time. I love making a ham ahead of time because it tastes just as good cold as it does warm. You can fully cook ham a day ahead of time and them just glaze it before serving.
Ingredients
- Spiral sliced bone in ham- I like to get a 8-12 pound spiral sliced ham. I will say the ones in the purple foil at Walmart have rave reviews and are the ones I prefer to cook with.
- Lemon lime soda- You want to use like Sprite or 7-up but not diet for this recipe.
- Brown sugar- Adds sweetness and helps the glaze get nice and sticky.
- Honey- Honey and lemon just go together and honey and ham go together so this is the perfect ingredient to the glaze.
- Lemon and lime- Just slice each one up to add to the glaze, they get sweet and candied.
