Hey mamas and daddies.

So I know laundry is nobody’s favorite chore to begin with but now with those new little handy dandy laundry detergent packets you get to shave off a little laundry time. They are so super convenient right? Of course they are, they can be a mom’s best friend on a busy laundry day.

That being said, we do need to talk about preventing laundry accidents involving these little laundry packets. The American Cleaning Institute® (ACI) has ongoing efforts to keep our little ones safe from accidental exposure to liquid laundry packets through their KEY Pledge safety education campaign.

According to a recent survey conducted by ACI, only 34% of us are storing our laundry packets properly. Sure I know you are thinking what’s the big deal? Well, it turns out those little squishy liquid laundry packets full of brightly colored liquid can be a magnet for children who usually pop everything they can in their mouths.

I myself am guilty of improperly storing my laundry packets, I just leave them on my sofa by the laundry room door most of the time. Any curious kid can just grab one, whenever. In 2015, I am making a change to always store mine out of reach and in a locked cabinet with the rest of my cleaners.

Half of people surveyed, admitted to having children 4 or under in the laundry room with them, so proper storage of these laundry packets is essential. These laundry detergent packets can cause serious harm to your little one if ingested or exposed to the eyes. They are made of highly concentrated detergent so we urge you to be very diligent with safely storing these laundry packets.
