I think a lot of people skip out on Arbys and they shouldn’t! It is so good. I love their famous roast beef sandwiches and they are known for these Beef and Cheddar Sandwiches. So let’s make some Copycat Arbys Beef and Cheddars right at home!
I wanted to recreate a copycat recipe of the famous arby sandwiches at home because they make the perfect quick lunch or dinner as they come together in just minutes. Plus have you been through the drive-thru lately? Prices are getting out of control! You can make these right at home and save so much money and they taste amazing!
Onion buns, roast beef, cheddar sauce and the secret red sauce (French dressing) make these sandwiches taste just like drive-thru! You only need a few ingredients to make this arby’s sandwich right at home. The onion bun and dressing are the secret to getting these to taste just like a copycat version of Arby’s.
I used a creamy cheese sauce that you can get premade right at your grocery store, making these even more easy to make at home.
You can even customize these to your family’s taste. Add bacon to make their iconic Bacon Beef and Cheddars which is also a great roast beef sandwich or add a little diced jalapeno for a kick! You can totally make these your own. Add some shredded lettuce and tomato, anything you like. Of course you have to serve these up with the Arby’s curly fries which you can also find right in the freezer section at any grocery store. They do have Arby’s brand curly french fries frozen now, but store brand seasoned curly fries is just as good! Gotta save those pennies! You can also heat up some mozzarella sticks to serve on the side, I love getting those at Arbys too!
So skip the drive-thru, save some money and make these Copycat Arbys Beef and Cheddars right at home!
INGREDIENTS
- Deli roast beef- You can use prepackaged deli roast beef for this or head to the deli counter and get some fresh sliced. Either way these sandwiches will be delicious and give you a good copycat arby’s beef flavor! You do want to make sure it is a thinly sliced roast beef.
- Water- I use a little water to steam my roast beef but you can also use beef broth if you have that on hand.
- Cheddar Cheese Sauce- I like to use Rico’s nacho cheese sauce. This is a very mild nacho cheese sauce and mimics the cheese sauce Arbys uses beautifully.
- Country French dressing- This is the secret to recreating that sweet red sauce they put on their sandwiches. There are several varieties of French dressing out there but the Country French Dressing is the closest to their zesty red ranch sauce. You can buy the tangy arby’s sauce at the store now but its not the exact sauce they use on these sandwiches but it can work as well!
- Onion buns- Now I absolutely love the onion buns that Arbys uses and you can also get them right at the grocery store, but this is another instance where you can customize your tasty sandwich and use a different bun if you don’t prefer the onion ones.

Can I make these Copycat Arbys Beef and Cheddars ahead of time?
Yes! This is a great make-ahead dinner that you can pop in the fridge and warm up later. Wrap them in plastic wrap or foil and store in an airtight container until ready to eat.
Can I double/halve this recipe?
Yup! This recipe is very easy to double or halve to fit your family’s needs.
Can I use any kind of cheese sauce?
Of course, use your favorite! I like to use Rico’s because it is a more mild flavor.
Do I have to use onion buns?
Nope! You can use your favorite hamburger bun. Arbys also traditionally uses sesame seed buns for their classic sandwich.
You can also now find Arbys sauce in grocery stores. It is not exactly what they use on their Beef and Cheddars because they use a red ranch sauce but it will work in a pinch!
