No Sew Ruffled Tree Skirt
Please excuse my lack of ornaments and the poorly placed ones, Dean loves decorating the tree lol.
I have been an awful blogger I know. I am sorry but the holidays and a rambunctious 2 year old leave little time to blog, and I have been making easy dinners that everyone already make like tacos and spaghetti and such, so nothing new to blog about lol. Ohhhh yeh and I lost my camera and never found it, I think a certain little boy took it -_-
Anyways for the past week I have spent every free moment of mine I spent on making the most amazing Christmas tree skirt. When I first saw the tree skirt I knew I wanted it desperately and I also knew that it was going to cost big bucks because that’s the way it always is. So I was extremely happy to find that this tree skirt was a do it yourselfer and cost around $10 and you could use your old tree skirt or one of those $2 cheapies you can buy.

You can personalize this however you want, go crazy with lace or ribbons, use several different kinds of fabics, alternate between 2 colors, anything really goes here.
What you will need it
- Glue gun with LOTS of sticks (I used an entire bag and finished the skirt with half a stick left)
- 5 yards of fabric (may need more, may need less, depending on your ruffles and the size of your tree skirt)
- An old or cheap tree skirt.
I used my old tree skirt and just flipped it over and used the back side. You will want to start by cutting your fabric in about 2 ½ to 3 inch strips, my fabric tended to curl so I found 3 inches was good for me.
For your first row you will want to let some of the fabric overhang the bottom of the skirt, so just keep that in mind when you put down your first line of glue.
So just put a short line of glue down and glue the end of the fabric down. Create ruffles by pinching linen with fingers and pushing gathers down onto hot glue and continue on and on and on (for days in my case lol). You want to make sure your next row of fabric overhangs the other row.

There is a tutorial here that might explain it better but this has to be the simplest craft ever, you basically are just gluing down strips of fabric, that’s it and the result is really amazing and stunning I think. How to Make a No-Sew Ruffled Christmas Tree Skirt

I LOVE your tree skirt. I’ve been seeing ruffles everywhere lately and have been wanting some of my own. Will you have to worry about th fabric unraveling in the washer? So glad you shared yours and the how to.
Thank you!! So glad you liked it!! I have never had to wash a tree skirt so I did not make mine to be washer safe, I imagine even if it didn’t unravel it probably wouldn’t hold up in the washer because of the hot glue. If you wanted to make a machine washable one I would just pin the ruffles down and sew them with the sewing machine but since I don’t wash my tree skirts the hot glue should be fine. Post a picture to my facebook if you make one I would love to see it and what fabric you choose :)
What fabric did you use? The curling of the edges looks so much better than the one in the tutorial that was fraying!!
I am not really sure what the fabric was, I picked it up at walmart. It reminded me of a very thin muslin fabric. However I believe any fabric will work for this so long as it is not too heavy like fleece lol

It was a light thin muslin type fabric I found a few years ago at Walmart, but any fabric will work :)
