Tres Leches Cake
This is a sponsored post for National Canned Food Month. All opinions are 100% mine.
Hey guys! It is that time again where I bring you an amazing recipe you can make straight from your pantry or “Cantry”. I love bring you these recipes as part of the “Cans Get You Cooking” project which shows you how easy it is to create delicious recipes at anytime thanks to well stocked “Cantry”
Now while my recipe today shows you how to make a sweet treat using cans I do want to take a minute to talk to you about how canned protein can be an important part of your diet.
We all already how important protein is, and I know as a busy mom there are days when dinner time rolls around and I realize all my meat is still frozen because I forgot to defrost anything!!! But instead of picking up the phone for take out I know I can just open my “Cantry” and find all sorts of ready to eat protein that will help me get a nutritious meal on the table in minutes! Think beyond tuna noodle casserole (which I think is delicious with some canned peas and blueberry muffins for dinner, trust me the perfect combo even though it sounds weird lol).
You can use canned chicken in casseroles and salads or soups. Canned beans are a great source of protein and can kick up a salad or make a fabulous burrito!
Now after dinner of course it is dessert time! This cake is one of my favorites! I am not too big on chocolate cake this one is right up my alley! It is creamy and cool and moist and sinfully delicious! The best part is you can make it with ingredients from your “Cantry”. Canned sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and mandarin oranges make this cake exceptional!
First you make your cake and then poke it all over with a fork.
Then you mix your sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and cream together and pour all over the cake which soak all that creaminess up.
Next you cover the whole shebang with whipped cream.
Next canned mandarin oranges and cherries make the perfect decoration.
This cake is so amazing, creamy and easy to make and I hope you reach into your “Cantry” and make one for yourself!
What are some canned proteins you love keeping on hand?
Love those fruit flowers, how clever! The cake sounds good too! Thank you for linking up with Thursday Favorite Things and I hope you have a glorious day!
