Cheesy Sausage and Rice Skillet

Hey guys!! Today I am going to share with you an easy, satisfying dinner you can make any night of the week!

At my house we love Hillshire Farm® Sausages. We eat it them every week, with rice and black eyed peas, with cabbage and onions, Dean has even mastered the art of making pigs in a blanket which he takes for lunch. Hillshire Farm® is truly the only brand my family buys.

I love that I can pick up a wide variety of my favorite Hillshire Farm® Sausage at Target ( I am there every week!) I just head over the deli aisle where they keep the hot dogs and lunch meat and pick up whatever sausage we have a craving for.

One of the things I love the most is the sausage is already cooked, that means I can have dinner ready in a flash! Just a few minutes and I can serve up a delicious dinner to my family. With a newborn, Dean in school and a husband who needs to eat before the night shift weeknights are super hectic.

This delicious Cheesy Sausage and Rice Skillet is a go to for me on busy nights when I’m trying to feed the baby, help with homework and pack lunches. This dinner practically takes care of itself.

I just brown up some flavorful Beef Polska Kielbalsa but you can use whatever variety you like.

Beef Polska Kielbasa Browned Kielbasa

Then I add in a can of tomatoes with green chilies and some uncooked rice.

Into the Skillet

A little water or chicken stock goes in and butter, then you bring to a boil, simmer covered for about 15-20 minutes.

Sausage Skillet

When it is all cooked up and absorbed I take it off the stove.

Add in some colby jack cheese (or your favorite)

Add Cheese

Then you have an easy dinner that the whole family will love!

Cheesy Sausage Rice Skillet

Ingredients

  • Polska Kielbalsa
  • Diced tomatoes with chiles
  • Rice
  • Chicken stock
  • Butter
  • Colby jack cheese

How to make this cheesy sausage & rice skillet –

  1. Slice and brown up the kielbalsa.
  2. Add in the tomatoes, rice, butter, stock, salt and pepper.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce to simmer and cover, cook for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the cheese.
  6. Serve!

Ingredients

  • 1 HIllshire Farm Beef Polska Kielbalsa
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with chiles
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked rice
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken stock or water
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup colby jack cheese

Instructions

  1. Slice and brown up the kielbalsa.
  2. Add in the tomatoes, rice, butter, stock, salt and pepper.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce to simmer and cover, cook for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the cheese.
  6. Serve!

          1. Made this last night. So quick and easy and very tasty!! I will definitely make this again. Used chicken broth for the liquid as suggested instead of water. Thanks for the recipe!!
